Who We Are
TALIKALA, Inc. is a non-stock, non profit social development, non-government organization (NGO) organized in 1987. Its main thrust is the empowerment of women and children in prostitution or the (P.W, P.C); a term adapted by the organization to underscore women and children as victims of sexual exploitation and emphasize prostitution as a human rights violation.
Three women- an American missionary, a social worker and a survivor of prostitution-conceived, a Talikala. The organization was an offshoot of a team called the Apostolate to Communities Dislocated by the Industrialization or ACDI that was formed by an American missionary. Generally, the mandate of the apostolate was to help improve the condition of women workers in Davao City. Since this was the focus of their organizing work, female symbol was added to the acronym ACDI. From this formation, Talikala came into being.

Since its founding, Talikala Inc. has been dedicated to empowering women and children, helping them reclaim their lives and futures. Here’s a look at our significant milestones.

Foundation of Talikala Inc.
Talikala, Inc. was founded on August 7, 1987 by three women of Diverse Background. The group was formed to help protect the prostituted women and children in Davao City from the crisis wreaked by HIV/AIDS, but it has since grown able to respond to the challenge of totally emancipating these exploited women and children from the bondage of human trafficking and prostitution.
